ABOUT US
The vines on the Houwaartse berg give the village something southern, as if you were in the middle of an Italian wine region. Houwaart is therefore known as a wine village and the centre of Hageland viticulture. Maurice Wuyts and his daughter Lieve started a small-scale vineyard here for their own use. But the passion took over and in 2006 Wijngaard Liemau came into being.
Today, daughter Lieve makes red, white and rosé wine. Since 2010 this also includes fresh sparkling wine. She uses the grape varieties Léon Millot, Regent, Sirius, Bacchus and Johanniter. Our strength is our small scale. From planting the vines to bottling the wine, we have everything under control. And because we do everything ourselves, we can guarantee the best quality.

Lieve likes to take you on a tour of the wine domain and we end with a tasting in the tasting house between the vines. She got her passion for winemaking from her father Maurice. Since 2019, daughter Lieve together with her husband Kris and children is the new generation of Wijngaard Liemau.
